The idea for the Learning Resource Kit originated at the Educational Publishers Council, which is the schools division of The Publishers Association. EPC represents the publishers of learning resources for schools and colleges, and campaigns to ensure that teachers and students are supported with the learning resources they need.

The Kit was written by John Evans, an educational consultant and until recently, a secondary Head (johnevans@f2s.com). He was supported by John Riley, Deputy Head of the Abbey School, Faversham and David Mitchell of the Geographical Association and the Institute of Education. The website was developed by Schoolzone (www.schoolzone.co.uk). The Kit is also supported by DfES
I'm really pleased to be able to support the launch of the Learning Resource Kit, which will help schools choose, and use the most appropriate resources for their needs, and get the most from their investment in resources. I look forward to working with the Educational Publishers Council in the future to realise our vision of making education successful for every child. Jacqui Smith MP, Schools Minister

About the Kit

Who supports and endorses the Kit?

Subject Associations Working Group
The Subject Associations Working Group (SAWG) is an informal grouping, meeting once a term in order to share perspectives on common interest themes. It consists mainly of the larger associations, those with full time professional staff and therefore with the capacity to collaborate in various ways. SAWG, of course, has a particular interest in teachers’ selection and use of learning materials and is happy to endorse this tool kit. We believe it will be a useful resource for school-based training.
